Sangola Municipality is the second oldest in Maharashtra that of year 1857. As heard from my grandfather, there was a time this place was used to be called as 'Sangole Sonyache' meaning Sangole with abundence of gold. Legend goes that the town was named after six Ingole [surname] abodes which went on to become known as saha ingole [six ingole] or Sangole.
